SUZY RADONSKY

Bird Quest

Suzy’s work is centred on her deep and personal connection with animals, inspired and guided by her relationship with her family dog, Max. The capacity to connect with animals and pets inspires Suzy’s studio practice which involves observation and recording of animals, in all forms and habitats.

For this project, Suzy will create life-size paintings on laser-cut wood panels, of birds native to the San Lorenzo River. These paintings will capture the birds in movement and will be installed in select locations around the Tannery Campus, creating a guided tour that will be led by QR codes. The five birds are non-migratory birds that can be seen all year round on the Santa Cruz Riverwalk. Find the birds on the quest, scan the QR codes on the found birds to learn all about them and take walk on the River to see them in real life and in their natural habitat.

Suzy works in collaboration with Native Animal Rescue with copyright permission to use their photography, when she sells the original work she is able to give back 15% of the sale price to the organization. She will also be consulting with local birder groups along the San Lorenzo River Riverwalk
