ABI MUSTAPHA
the nature of community
Abi Mustapha is a Sierra Leonean-American artist based in Santa Cruz California. Graphite, charcoal, acrylic and oil paint, have been her preferred mediums, alongside digital illustration, graphic design and mural work.
Abi has been showing work as a full-time Artist in the bay area since 2013, with exhibits in several galleries and museums in the Midwest and Bay Area including the Richmond Art Center, Garret Museum of Art, and Joyce Gordon Gallery and a residency at the Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History.
The Nature of Community is a mural to be painted at the south entrance of the Tannery campus adjacent to the Colligan Theater. The relationship of people, plants and animals illustrated will express her signature emotive style. The mural offers a way to live as one in a world of many, inspiring viewers with a story of the world as it could be. Throughout the mural, the observer can learn about the plants, animals and humans who have helped to shape our town.
