Upcycled Skate Art
Upcycled Skate Art proprietor Alex Wong will design and contract seating for the Lezin Garden, the sculpture garden around the Arts Council Santa Cuz County offices. The seating is constructed with Alex’s signature reuse of materials - seasoned skate decks that showcase the artwork of the era and specific cultural dialogue.
“I use my artwork to open the dialogue of waste and sustainability by using materials that would end up in our landfills,” says Alex, “while at the same time the medium itself has a connection with the culture that is inherently Santa Cruz.”
These unique handcrafted benches offer a place to sit and enjoy the garden, the public art, and appreciate the extraordinary urban oasis of the Tannery Arts Center.
